VW Golf, Passat & Polo Android Radios: Wireless CarPlay Upgrade Guide

Volkswagens hold their value well, but the factory radio in an older Golf or Passat quickly falls behind. A DUDUAUTO Android radio replaces it with a large touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and GPS navigation, in a kit made to fit your VW's dashboard. This guide shows which radio fits your Volkswagen and how to choose between the DUDU models.

Which radio fits my VW?

We stock model-specific radios for these Volkswagens:

• Golf 6 (2008–2016): the Volkswagen Golf 6 DUDUAUTO Android Radio.
• Golf 7 (2013–2017): the Volkswagen Golf 7 DUDUAUTO Android Radio.
• Passat B7 (2011–2015): the Volkswagen Passat B7 DUDUAUTO Android Radio.
• Touran (2003–2010): the Volkswagen Touran DUDUAUTO Android Radio.
• Multivan (2003–2015): the Volkswagen Multivan DUDUAUTO Android Radio.
• Crafter (2006–2012): the Volkswagen Crafter DUDUAUTO Android Radio.

Each radio comes as a vehicle-specific kit with the correct dash frame and harness, so it fits the original opening without cutting. Browse all Volkswagen Android radios.

What about the Polo and other VW models?

Many Volkswagens share a standard 9-inch radio opening. For these, our VW Universal 9" DUDUAUTO Android Radio may be the right fit, from R4,599.99. Fitment depends on your exact model and year, so WhatsApp us on 083 315 4278 with your model, year and a photo of your dash, and we'll confirm before you buy.

Will my factory reverse camera still work?

That depends on how the camera is wired in your specific VW. Speak to our team before you order and we'll confirm whether your factory camera will carry over, or recommend one of our Sony 1080p reverse cameras.

DUDU3, DUDU5 or DUDU7?

The model-specific VW radios come in three versions. All run Android, so you can download apps like on a smartphone, and all give you wired and wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, GPS navigation and Bluetooth.

*Our 360° camera kit needs the radio to be ordered with the 360° chip, as it can't be added later. If your vehicle already has factory 360° cameras, you don't need the chip.

The DUDU5 is our most popular choice. If you're building a high-end sound system, the DUDU7's flagship hardware and 2K screen are worth it. For a full comparison, see DUDU3 vs DUDU5 vs DUDU7.

Useful extras

• Reverse camera if your VW doesn't have one.
• ADAS dash camera that records through the radio.
• TPMS tyre pressure monitor with live readings on screen.
• OBD adapter for live vehicle data (DUDU5 and DUDU7 only).

Warranty and installation

Every DUDUAUTO radio comes with a 3-year warranty. Professional installation is available through our authorised installers in George, the Garden Route, Pretoria and Durbanville / Cape Town, and we deliver across South Africa. See what to expect at installation.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I have a Golf 6 or Golf 7?

The Golf 7 has a newer, wider dashboard with the screen higher up in the centre. If you're unsure, WhatsApp us a photo of your dash.

Will my steering wheel buttons work?

Yes. Your steering wheel controls keep working with a DUDUAUTO radio.

Can I still use the radio without my phone?

Yes. The radio has its own GPS, Bluetooth and Android apps, so it works on its own as well as with CarPlay or Android Auto.
